Don't call it a comeback; he wasn't gone for that long!
The Boston Celtics cruised to an easy win thanks to a huge return from Kristaps Porzingis, who dominated the first half, and Jaylen Brown took over in the third quarter as the Celtics claimed a huge 107-89 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
"Tonight was affirmation to myself that I'm pretty good," Porzingis said. "I'm not perfect, but I can play like this and I can add to this team."
Love that quote, seriously how long has he played in the NBA? Actually, Kristaps, you are better than pretty good, you are very good at playing basketball. He scored 18 in the first half and dominated on both sides of the court.
The adrenaline was pumping through my veins," Porzingis said.
Why the Celtics ultimately won Game 1 - Porzingis was huge in the first half, Brown was dominant in the second half, and Luka Doncic only had one assist.
Dallas cut a 20-point halftime deficit to eight points in the third quarter, but Boston answered with a 14-0 run to quickly pull away again.
"That's when the game started," Brown said.
Brown finished with 22 and took over the game on both sides of the court in the third and fourth quarters, essentially stopping the Mavs' run.
Luka Doncic finished the game with 30,10 and 1. Just one assist will not be enough against the Celtics' defense. The Mavs must adjust in Game 2 and return to playing team offense if they are going to have any chance of winning this series.
