Love her, hate her, or love to hate her. Angel Reese has proven that she belongs on the court in the WNBA.
Despite all of the criticism Reese has received revolving around her rival Caitlin Clark over the past month, it is safe to say that none of it appears to be affecting her performance on the court, which is not surprising considering that she has embraced her role as Clark's villain. But don't be fooled by all the antics on and off the court because Reese is a player.
Reese finished today's game with 16 points and 18 rebounds in The Chicago Sky win over the Dallas Wings 83-72 and became the first WNBA rookie with 7 straight double-doubles. Reese's 18 rebounds also mark a career-high for her WNBA career. The Sky are now 5-9 on the young season and sit just out of the playoff picture in ninth place behind Clarks, Indiana Fever. Clearly, the Sky is not falling on Reese or The Sky.
Their next game is on Sunday at home against Clark and her Indiana Fever, which I'm sure will draw huge attendance and even bigger ratings on ESPN.
After the game, Reese told ESPN, "I have so much more to grow, and I'm just excited to be in this league."
In her post-game press conference, Reese talks about not having any doubts about her ability to hit the ground running in the WNBA.
"I knew coming into the league what I was gonna bring," she said Thursday in her postgame press conference after an 83-72 win over the Dallas Wings. "I don't really care about the outside things. I knew my game was gonna translate just because I rebound and play hard.
"I play hard all 40 minutes and you can't teach that. You can't teach the dawg mentality. You can't teach somebody that just wants to go hard for their teammates and their coaches every single day, so that's just my job within this team."
