TAKE THE MONEY CAITLIN - CLARK OFFERED $5M TO PLAY IN ICE CUBES BIG3

Consider this - the highest paid player in the WNBA makes just over $250K a year which means it would take her 20 Years to earn $5M in the WNBA.

As the Cailin Clark phenomenon enters the 2nd week of March Madness a new offer arrived at her door, this time it was a $5M offer for Clark to play in ICE CUBES Big3 League. From a monetary perspective, it would take Clark nearly 20 years to make $5M in salary from the WNBA with its current pay structure.

Now there are going to be detractors who call this a bad idea. They will say things like this will steal the momentum away from the women's game which is a short-sighted view. The reality is something like this would most likely increase the visibility of the women's game and may finally force the WNBA into paying its players what they deserve.

Money aside, Clark would become the first woman to play in the 3-on-3 half-court basketball league which is stacked with former NBA players. I think the real question is why hasn’t the BIG3 explored other WNBA players in the past. At a minimum, at least 5 other current WNBA players could hold their own in the league and provide a significant media burst for the league.

Logistically, she would be able to play in both leagues as there is minimal overlap.

After TMZ initially reported the news, Cube confirmed it on Twitter, writing, “BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.”

As for Clark, she will certainly have a wide variety of ways to make money outside of the WNBA, but as the legendary Billy Jean King once did against Bobby Riggs, Clark should take the money and play.
