NFL DRAFT: DAPPER CALIB WILLIAMS GOES NUMBER ONE TO THE CHICAGO BEARS

No Surprises Here, as the Chicago Bears selected Caleb Williams as the number one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Apr 25, 2024

No surprises here: the Chicago Bears, who have not had a legit starting QB since television was broadcast in black and white, did the right thing tonight and selected Caleb Williams as the number one draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Williams, 22, showed up at the draft looking dapper in a navy suit and was accompanied by his mom and a blonde — who the internet has identified as Alina Thyregod — in what can best be described as a stunning silver dress.

Williams passed for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions last season, completing 266 of 388 passes (68.6%) for the Trojans.

In his Heisman campaign, he completed 333 of 500 passes (66.6%) for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns, and five interceptions, adding 382 rushing yards and ten touchdowns.

Before being picked number one, his former USC Head Coach Lincoln Riley had some words of wisdom for Willimans.

Making the jump from college to the NFL brings new challenges, which multiply as each player’s career goes on. He talked about the need to adapt from Week 1 of his rookie year and again down the road with the Bears.

“The further you go along, the more tape they get,” Riley said Thursday on ESPN College GameDay. “You get to the next level and obviously, the competition rises. People are going to try different things to beat you. To me, the great quarterbacks find ways to win games no matter what defenses are trying do to them.”

“For him, I think it’s going to continue to get more comfortable in the pocket,” Riley said. “I would imagine teams are going to try to keep him in there. The more he can get comfortable there, continue to beat teams that way. We know how special he is when he gets outside the pocket. That’s where the guy separates himself. So, as his game continues to evolve, I think he’ll be tougher to beat and an even more compete player.”

Williams, said he would have his right pinkie nail painted silver to match his outfit and his girlfriend’s dress, as the Chicago Sun-Times reported prior to the draft.

“My mom does nails… she’s done it for my whole life so it’s kinda always been around me,” Williams said in an interview with USC Athletics in Oct. 2022. “Nobody else does it I like to kind of do new things. I don’t really care what people have to say about it.

“Gotta keep the hands fresh. This is where all the gold comes from,” he said, laughing.
