Luka Dončić Will Be The Best Player In The NBA Finals
Luka, who is often overlooked when media members talk about the great players of this generation, has absolutely changed the narrative this postseason.

Let me start by simply saying this year's NBA MVP winner should have been Luka Doncic. Donic averaged nearly 8 more points a game than Nikola Jokic, and while Jokic averaged 2 more rebounds a game, might I remind you we are talking about a point guard who put up historically regular season numbers, averaging 33.9 points, collecting 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists. A point guard!
The NBA Finals tip off on June 6th, and when the players take the court, there should be no doubt that Luka Doncic is the best player on the court.
Doncic, in the five-game Western Conference Finals against the Timberwolves, scored over 30 points four times and, without a doubt, put the Dallas Mavericks on his shoulders early in game 5 when he scored 20 points in the first quarter.
"Man, I was enjoying it," said Mavericks costar Kyrie Irving, who also scored 36 points in the clincher. "You're just watching a special performance take place. ... When Luka starts off a game like that, we're a tough team to beat."
Doncic, who earned Western Conference finals MVP, had his highest-scoring outing this postseason with 36 points.
"It was Luka magic mode," Jason Kidd said. "He set the tone, and then he made it easier for everyone else. Everybody else stepped up."
If you are a Boston Celtics fan, you probably wonder why Jayson Tatum isn’t considered the best player in the upcoming NBA finals. From a statistical standpoint, it isn’t even close.
Yes, Tatum is a great player, but Doncic is on a different level from a historical perspective.
As the age-old saying in the NBA goes, the team with the best player will more often than not win the NBA finals. While that is a simplistic statement, and yes, the role players will be key to who wins or loses a ring, the fact is a semi-healthy Doncic is the most dangerous player in the upcoming NBA finals because he can simply decide to take over a game at any time.
Factor in Kyrie Irving, the other Mavericks role players, and the Mavs will be difficult to beat despite the deep Celtics roster.
Doncic, who should have won this year's NBA MVP award, will clearly start next season as the one to beat.
THE UNDERRATED OPINION
Luka, who is often overlooked when media members talk about the great players of this generation, has absolutely changed the narrative this postseason. The media, which has often been skeptical of his numbers, using terms like he posts inflated numbers because he is playing a team with very few options, needs to be eating crow at this point as the Mavericks have one of the best-constructed basketball teams in the NBA, largely due to the brilliant moves made at the trading deadline.
The other false media narrative has been that Doncic can not play with another superstar, and while it took a while, Doncic and Irving put those statements to bed. Doncic is really one of the best shooting and most complete point guards I've ever watched play in the NBA.
I know the eras are different, but as great as Magic Johnson was, he never came close to averaging 33 points a game for a season. In fact, Magic's best season was 1986-1987, when he averaged 23.9 points and 12.2 assists per game.
As great as Steph Curry is, his rebound and assists stats fall well below Doncic. I guess I'm trying to say that you are about to see the most complete point guard in the history of the NBA finally get a shot at a ring.
