What do you do when you want to stay but know that the team you've spent your career with is only willing to give you half of what you can get on the open market? Do you stay and take a hometown discount, or do you leave knowing that this will most likely be your last major opportunity to score a significant bag of cash?

Welcome to Klay Thompson's less-than-wonderful world. I'm sure Thompson would love to stay with the Warriors, but he will most likely opt to leave the Bay Area for a new opportunity with another team in the NBA.

Reports have Thompson looking for at least a 3-year deal that will pay him around $35 million per year. The Warriors are not willing to bite on the amount and length of the contract and have not put a formal contract offer on the table from Thompson, according to The Athletic's Anthony Slater.

"There's been no productive discussion between the Warriors and Thompson or his representatives," Slater reported Saturday, adding that "talks are essentially frozen."

Rumors have been swirling for months that the Orlando Magic will make an offer for Thompson's services, but there has been no reported movement to this point. Thompson, who is still an excellent player, finds himself skiing down the backside of Career Mountain, stuck between deserving a large bag of cash and finishing his career as a nice role player with a contender.

Realistically, there is still a chance that Thompson will be back with the Warriors next season, but for that to happen, it would mean that none of the other teams in the NBA would be willing to pay Thompson for his 18 to 21 points a game.

With Thompson scrubbing his social media channels of all things Warriors, it's safe to say that the probability is high that Thompson will play his last game as a Splash Brother.
