Actor Travis Kelce, That’s Right Actor Travis Kelce Scores Role In Ryan Murphy's FX horror series 'Grotesquerie'
May 8, 2024
To say that Travis Kelce has not had a busy offseason would be an understatement. Between re-signing with the Chiefs, inking a two-year extension deal that will make him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, getting his diploma from the University of Cincinnati, hosting his highly successful podcast New Heights with his brother Jason Kelce, hanging out at the Kentucky Derby, hosting a new gameshow on Amazon Prime and traveling the world with his girlfriend Taylor Swift, the Chiefs tight is the very definition of busy.
Plus, Kelce Announced the Return of His Legendary Music Festival: Kelce Jam Presented by Jim Beam featuring Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2Chainz which will be in Kansas City on May 18th.
As Yoda might say, ‘The enemy of boredom is Kelce.’
Kelce is expanding his Hollywood presence with his first major acting role in Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated new FX horror series, "Grotesquerie." Sources reveal that he will star alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville in the upcoming series, which has recently begun production.
“The awareness of Travis is much larger and with an even broader audience,” said Richard Lovett, C.A.A.’s co-chairman, to the New York Times in January. “It’s accelerated that which was probably inevitable in terms of his level of awareness and appeal.”
Last month, Amazon Prime announced that The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is officially the host of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, a spinoff of the popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” Kelce said in a press statement. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
Currently, Kelce and his management team will focus on optimizing the open schedule between the conclusion of the NFL season and the commencement of training camp in July.
“We positioned Travis to be world famous,” one of Kelce's co-managers, André Eanes, said. “We didn’t know how it would happen, or when it would happen, or what would help push that further along. But it’s always been the thought in the back of our minds.”
THE UNDERRATED OPINION
You have to hand it to Kelce for positively capitalizing on his fame. From all the TV commercials to all the charitable work he does inside and outside Kansas City, he clearly has a solid team around him pushing all the right buttons.
Kelce appears to be one of those people who doesn’t enjoy slowing down, and based on all the things he is jungling, the question will inevitably come back to what about football?
Now 34 years old and entering his eleventh season in the NFL, the wear and tear of the NFL will eventually catch up to him, as it does with everyone. Still, Kelce has posted his fair share of off-season workout videos, and you can’t blame him for capitalizing on his accelerated fame.
