The Philadelphia 76ers, refusing to go quietly into the night, beat the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight in overtime 112-106.
Philadelphia seemed to be heading to vacation late in regulation, trailing 96-90 with just 28 seconds remaining. However, Tyrese Maxey's clutch and 3-pointer narrowed the gap to 96-94.
Then, with 8.1 seconds left on the clock, he pulled up from 34 feet, tied the game at 97-97, and sent the game to overtime.
The night began with a rain of boos targeting Joel Embiid, who was hearing it from the Knicks fans who were unhappy about his post-game comments after the 76ers lost to the Knicks a few days ago.
Maxy scored 46 points, including seven crucial points in the frantic final 25 seconds of regulation, leading Philadelphia to a 112-106 overtime victory over the New York Knicks and silencing the frenzied crowd at Madison Square Garden.
The win keeps the 76ers alive in the series, which now heads back to Philadelphia for Game 6. The Knicks are still leading the series 3-2.
As for Embiid, he pitched 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists and didn't seem rattled by the MSG fans.
